Pillar Financial is a company that cares.
For the past three years we have foregone our traditional holiday party and gift swap in favor of supporting Cradles to Crayons. This wonderful organization provides low income and homeless children from birth to pre-teen the basic essentials they need to be safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. This year we gave to Cradles to Crayons in three ways. Our employee "shoppers" purchased clothing, board games and books as a holiday donation; a larger group worked at the organization's warehouse; and we donated to the "Back to School" initiative by sponsoring an entire classroom with backpacks filled with school supplies. Going Casual for a Cause
On Friday, October 3, 2008, the Team at Pillar Financial Advisors wore their favorite denim jeans to show support in the fight against breast cancer.
Every year on the first Friday in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lee jeans invites businesses and organizations like PFA to participate in Lee National Denim Day by allowing their employees to wear denim to work in exchange for a minimum donation of $5. PFA matched donations of $50 or more, bringing our total to $1,130.
The fundraiser has raised more the $70 million dollars since 1996. It is one of the largest single-day fundraisers nationwide for breast cancer. Through the Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lee National Denim Day supports groundbreaking early detection and treatment research at leading cancer centers and provides community breast education services nationwide. - To raise money for cancer research, Bill has ridden in the Pan Mass Challenge since 2005. He is a member of team FLAMES - Fast Legs and Minds Ending Suffering - started by a Dana Farber oncologist, nurse and patient, and made up of DFCI employees, cancer survivors and their families.
